Community Capital Projects

Cherry Street Health Services, Inc. - $57,500

Capital support to build the Southwest Grand Rapids Community Health Center. Located in Wyoming, MI the center is expected to increase access to primary health care to thousands of additional vulnerable families in a federally designated, medically underserved area.

Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters - $140,000

Support for a capital campaign to construct a new facility that will bring administrative, shelter and support services to a single location. Communities Overcoming Violent Encounters is currently the only shelter serving Mason, Lake, and Oceana Counties that provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and homeless women with children.

Grand Rapids Child Discovery Center - $125,000

Support for phase II of a three phase capital campaign to purchase, design, renovate, and reconfigure the former Vandenberg Elementary School to house the K-5 Grand Rapids Child Discovery Center and the successful Reggio-Emilia early childhood education program.

Grand Rapids University Preparatory Association - $500,000

Support for the Inspire, Achieve, Realize capital campaign to design and construct a new state-of-the-art middle/high school on the southern edge of downtown Grand Rapids. Modeled after a successful program in Southeast Michigan, Grand Rapids University Prep Academy holds promise for improved outcomes for students in the Grand Rapids Public School district.

Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation - $500,000

A challenge grant for the construction of the Cowell Family Cancer Center at Munson Hospital, a facility that will serve as northern Michigan’s most comprehensive resource for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and related disorders. Project also includes naturalization of a portion of Kid’s Creek, a major tributary of the Boardman River.

Support to acquire and renovate a vacant, former community library for use as a consolidated health and dental clinic for economically vulnerable families. This new clinic will be located on the southern edge of Kent County, and will be designed to improve access to dentalcare for low-income, uninsured and underinsured families.
