The Frey Foundation strives to make the grant application process as open and clear as possible. Before you begin the process, please make sure your proposed project meets these basic guidelines and core values:
Types of Organizations
The Foundation accepts proposals from charitable 501(c)(3) organizations or government agencies. Requests are not accepted from individuals for any purpose, or from organizations proposing activities that are taxable.
For community-based or regional projects, the Foundation focuses on proposals from agencies and organizations serving the Grand Rapids area, Emmet or Charlevoix counties. The Foundation also accepts proposals from charitable organizations with a state-level presence or state government agencies that have a direct impact on the Frey Foundation's geographic targets.
The Foundation seeks broad community support for all projects and, therefore, will consider funding only a portion of any proposed project expense. We believe projects which are broadly supported have the greatest likelihood for success.
Starting the Application Process
Before you expend the time and energy on an application to the Frey Foundation, please give us a call or send an email or letter. The Foundation's staff welcomes an opportunity to discuss your project. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns as you proceed with the application process.
Review these initial eligibility questions to see if you may qualify.
